IEC DC motors – powerful, durable, and versatile
IEC motors from WINKELMANN provide robust, standard-compliant, and cost-effective drive solutions for industrial applications. Designed as industrial DC motors, they meet the highest requirements for reliability, performance, and continuous operation. They are ideal wherever consistent performance, flexible integration, and long service life are critical.
Thanks to international standards like IEC, these motors provide maximum planning security for machine builders and plant operators. Particularly in challenging industrial environments with high humidity, dust, or aggressive media, these DC motors impress with their robust construction and high protection ratings.
Cooling is provided either via speed-dependent self-surface cooling or speed-independent through a powerful external fan, allowing the motor to be thermally adapted to varying operating conditions. Optional features include brakes, speed sensors, gearboxes, or monitoring systems. Both indoor and outdoor installations are possible, making these IEC motors highly flexible.
Technical features and design characteristics
The design of our IEC motors is focused on durability and mechanical stability. High-quality materials, precise manufacturing, and well-thought-out construction ensure reliable operation even under demanding load conditions.
Thanks to insulation class H (according to F), the motors have high thermal reserves. Even under elevated ambient temperatures or temporary overload, they remain fully operational and safe. This thermal robustness not only increases service life but also provides added safety in industrial environments.
Another key advantage is guaranteed vibration level B, ensuring smooth, low-vibration operation. This directly contributes to longer bearing life. For industrial DC motors operating continuously, low vibrations significantly reduce maintenance costs and unplanned downtime.
Especially for motors used in pumps and test benches, WINKELMANN offers precise adaptation of the motor characteristic curve to the specific application. Optimizing according to the pump curve ensures energy-efficient operation with stable torque. Additionally, starting resistors are simulated and precisely designed to guarantee an optimal IEC motor pump connection. This customization makes IEC motors a technically and economically convincing solution for demanding industrial processes.
Motors according to NEMA MG1 – Globally compatible
In addition to the IEC-compliant version, our IEC DC motors are also available according to NEMA MG1. The modular design allows a flexible combination of both standard systems. This results in industrial DC motors that can be used seamlessly in both European and North American markets.
This standard flexibility is particularly advantageous for internationally operating companies, offering a unified drive solution for multiple locations. IEC motors therefore provide not only technical performance but also global compatibility.
